ABOUT US
Newhouse Manufacturing concentrates on building quality, specialized equipment for the agriculture industry. Our customers
desired a high quality product at affordable
pricing, as well as equipment that will last for
many years of service and give them the maximum
return on their investment. We respond with equipment that is designed for strength, durability, and long life. Newhouse designs its products with common, standard parts, such as bearings, pulleys, and belts, so field service is faster and easier for its users.
HISTORY
Newhouse Manufacturing was started in 1953 by Marinus (Junior) Newhouse shortly after moving to a ranch in Terrebonne, Oregon. Junior, working in the ranch shop with his parents, built cattle chutes for a few neighbors. They soon came into such demand in the area that the business was born.
Junior began building field bale hay elevators, and even "tote goats", and by 1956, the desire for Newhouse equipment was growing so rapidly that the young company moved onto newly acquired property in Redmond, Oregon. Through the years, Newhouse Manufacturing has produced more than thirty different types of standard and custom equipment for ranchers and farmers.
The emphasis throughout this time has been on building machines which are far better and tougher than was generally expected with common agricultural machinery. Newhouse equipment is manufactured with the objective of long service life with few repairs. This is a tradition and the reputation for Newhouse equipment.
Newhouse Manufacturing has responded to the changes in agricultural production in Central Oregon over the years by building a variety of custom equipment to meet the needs of the area ranchers. As the potato farming business in the area grew, Newhouse produced potato beds and bulk handling equipment.
In the mid 1960's Newhouse began making small hay bale choppers. By the early 1970's, mint was becoming a major crop in Central Oregon so Newhouse built cooker tubs, planters, diggers, and farm dollies. In the mid seventies, production started on mint distillation equipment. Mint and other essential oil distillation equipment remains a primary product line for the company today. In the early 1990's Newhouse began manufacturing big bale choppers, and now has several different models in the product line.
Newhouse continues to grow and expand into new areas of the agricultural industry. With its emphasis on quality and longevity, and its exceptional reputation among customers, Newhouse is looking forward to becoming a world-wide provider of specialized farm machinery
well into the new century.

The first Newhouse Manufacturing building in Redmond was 1700 square feet of office and manufacturing space. In the years that followed, the production area has continued to expand in several phases and now covers about 40,000 square feet on almost seven acres, and includes machine shops, fabrications shops, welding shops and a separate paint shop.
The machine shop has eight lathes, two vertical mills, a horizontal mill, and a drive line fabrication and balancing lathe capable of handling twenty foot drive lines. The plant has a variety of presses, press brakes, leaf brakes, shears,
band saws, rollers, and an iron worker. The welding capabilities include heliarc, TIG and MIG, and
we routinely fabricate in mild and stainless steel
as well as aluminum. The factory is staffed by excellent machinists and fabricators, many of whom have been with the company and in the industry for many years, and have the special knowledge and skills that allow Newhouse to respond to the unique requirements of this industry.
